Mogadishu, Somalia (Horn Observer) The Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security of the Southwest State of Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Y. Abdulla, successfully concluded a four-day workshop in Mogadishu on the Protection and Reintegration of Children Affected by Armed Conflict (CAAC), jointly organized by UNICEF Somalia and the United Nations Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS).


The workshop focused on strengthening child protection mechanisms, preventing the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, and enhancing coordinated efforts to address grave violations against children.

The event brought together representatives from the Ministries of Internal Security, Justice, Health, Women and Human Rights, and Education at both the Federal and Federal Member State levels, as well as officials from UNTMIS, UNICEF Somalia, and EUCAP Somalia.

During the discussions, the Director General highlighted the Ministry's ongoing efforts to protect children's rights, prevent child recruitment and involvement in armed conflict, and promote a safe and secure environment in which all children can grow, learn, and thrive.
