MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Do not undermine the efforts to investigate the death of Ikran Tahlil Farah, a female intelligence agent who vanished and died last month, former Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has told the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo amid high political tensions in country ahead of presidential elections.

Ikran (23) disappeared from her home near the headquarters of Somalia’s intelligence and Security Agency in Mogadishu late June.

Sources noted the young women who was head of NISA's cyber security department The young women who was head of NISA's cyber security department had received a call before she left and boarded a car outside her home at about 8 pm local time.

Her parents have called on the agency to come clean on the whereabouts of their daughter.

Following more than a month long mum, NISA announced that Ikran was kidnapped and subsequently killed by al-Shabab militants in Somalia, a claim rejected by the terror group.

Speaking to the media in Somali capital, the former President called on the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to take part in efforts to seek justice for Ikran.

Mohamud has warned his predecessor not to stand in the way of investigations into Ikran's death.

"Mr. President, support justice as you took an oath to reinforce justice. So assist the grieving family in their quest for justice. It is both a religious, constitutional and moral obligation to do so. Let your conscience move you, Mr President,” Mohamud said.

Former President also accused Farmaajo of not wanting to allow the country hold elections, saying Farmaajo has no concrete plans to hold the elections.

"You dismissed the Prime Minister at a time when election discussions were on the table. That action and what is happening today clearly indicate that you do not have a solid plan for elections. The Somali people observe that your words and actions do not match,” said Mohamud while addressing journalists in Somali capital, Mogadishu.
