
Somali Prime Minister Makes a Surprise Visit to Las-Anod


"On behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia & in my personal capacity, I extend my heartfelt thanks for the warm & generous welcome I received today in Las Anod.” Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre said on X, "Your hospitality is a powerful reflection of the strength, unity, & enduring spirit of the people of SSC-Khaatumo.”
Among the members of the delegation is the Commander of the Somali Police Force, Asad Osman Abdullahi (commonly known as Asad Diyano), alongside several key government officials.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, ministers and members of parliament from his administration had already reached Lasanood, preparing for his historic visit.
This marks the first time a sitting Somali Prime Minister has visited one of the northern regions in such a capacity. The last notable visit to the area by a Somali head of government was by the second president of Somalia, Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke.

Las-Anod, Somalia (Horn Observer) A high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre arrvied in Las-Anod, the capital of SSC Khaatumo state, in what many termed "a surprise visit."
