    Deputy PM Guled elected first Lower House MP

    MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled has been elected to Somalia's incoming 11th Parliament.

MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled has been elected to Somalia's incoming 11th Parliament.

Guled faced off his only female opponent Mushtaq Ibrahim Yusuf.

According to the poll agency, Guled got 97 votes while his opponent got only three votes.

He is the first representative to be selected through Somalia's indirect voting system.

Candidates will contest one more seat before the day's end.

The elections are being held at the General Kahiye Police Academy in Hamar Jajab district.
