FIET spokesperson, Ahmed Aden speaks at a press conference in Mogadishu on Sunday.
MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) The Federal Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) has nullified the election of two Lower House seats from South West State saying that the process was marred with irregularities and fraud.

The announcement comes amid intra-communal tensions and warning of possible electoral related violence in the Horn of African country.

The election of seat No. HoP154 and HoP103 have been canceled meaning that the race will be rerun.

FIET spokesperson, Ahmed Aden said they found out that one of the candidates who contested in the HoP154 election was under age which goes against the electoral regulations while the HoP103 was not transparent after some aspirants were blocked.

"The Federal Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT)  has rejected the election result of the recently concluded poll in Galmudug, South West and Mogadishu. We therefore call for rerun for all these seats," the spokesperson said.

Further, FIET said it was investigating several other electoral results of Somaliland (which took place in Mogadishu) and in Galmudug following a dispute over the incorrect procedures and fraudulent manner. The decision will be issued pending the review by the Dispute Resolution Committee.

One of the seats under investigation is HoP067 which was allegedly worn by the acting chief of the national intelligence (NISA), Yasin Farey.  Farey's claim of election victory sparked public outcry as a lawsuit implicating him and several other intelligence officers remains pending in the military court over their involvement in the disappearance and possibly the murder of former NISA employee, Ikran Tahlil.
