    Rival armed groups clash in Somalia's Puntland

    Garowe, Somalia (Horn Observer) Rival groups belong to the Puntland regional government clash in the town of Bosaso on Tuesday after Puntland president fired PSF chief.

Garowe, Somalia (Horn Observer) Rival groups belong to the Puntland regional government clash in the town of Bosaso on Tuesday after Puntland president fired PSF chief.


Both rival armies clash in the town of Bosaso prompting many civilians to flee their homes following heavy exchange of fire.

Witnesses say that the situation in the ground is now tense as more shots are being heard especially in Ridwan neighborhood which lies in the vicinity of the PSF camp. 

The fighting halted the Businesses and activities in the town of Bossaso as residents, fearing for their lives, have taken cover until security returns to normal.

The ongoing fighting has also escalated with the absence of the Puntland Leader who is currently out of the state.

The fighting comes a mid President Deni of Puntland in the town of Baidoa for the celebration of the third anniversary of the President of Southwest State of Somalia.

Bosaso is also one of the towns designated to be held for the upcoming elections and its not clear if President Deni will move the elections to Garowe or Galka'yo if the fighting continues.
