LONDON – 25 December, 2016: A New presidential candidate, who is believed to be making a significant change in Somalia's political landscape if elected, announced his candidacy at a news conference on Sunday in Mogadishu.
A successful businessman and a lawmaker, Abdullahi Ali Ahmed aka Addow Ali Gees, read out his candidacy to run for the presidential elections at a press conference held in Mogadishu on Sunday, signaling commitment to bring Somalia back to its knees.
"I declare here that I stand to be a presidential candidate and I believe that I can do Somalia better” Lawmaker Abdullahi Ali Ahmed told reporters in Mogadishu.
Mr. Abdullahi Ali Ahmed is a member of the newly elected Federal parliament of Somalia and a wealthy businessman.
Dozens of presidential candidates have declared their candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections in Somalia early next year, but many analysists believe that Mr. Abdullahi Ali Ahmed could make Somalia peaceful and prosperous.
