Somalia's Al-Shabab attacks Kismayo Hotel, government sets up hotlines to prevent Shabab extortion
The attackers made their way into the hotel which locates on the road to the port. However, Somalia security forces ended the siege.
Shortly after the attack Jubbaland Police deputy chief Mohamed Nasi Guled called on the residents to calm down saying that "Three attackers are in the hotel and will shortly end their siege.
Al-Shabab, which Somalia recognized as a terrorist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Kismayu is the commercial capital of Jubbaland, a region of southern Somalia still partly controlled by the armed group al-Shabab.
On Sunday,The Somali government announced that it set up ”hotlines for people contacted by Al-Shabaab to demand extortion. Government says callers are not required to give their names and location; all they need to do is give information about person demanding the extortion
The President of the country, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has pledged to defeat al-Shabaab after countless deadly attacks.

Mogadishu, Somalia (Horn Observer) Somali Militant group Al-Shabab attacked on Sunday Kismayo's Tawakal Hotel, several civilians reportedly killed in the attack and scores wounded.
