Mogadishu, (Horn Observer) Somalia's SNA backed by clan militias on Monday took over the strategic towns of Haradhere and Galcad from Somali-based Al-Qaeda-affiliated militant group al-Shabaab in Somalia's Mudug region, officials said

 Harardhere is the second al-Shabaab stronghold in Galmudug state. Earlier Monday the army said it seized the town of Galcad. Somalia’s Military officials say they are now focusing on Elbur and Galhareri towns, another Al Shabab strongholds areas.

Somalia’s Defense Minister, Abdukadir Mohamed Nur said that SNA forces were in full control of Harardhere and started clearance operation, as quoted by SONNA, the state news agency.

"I can confirm to you that I am at Harardhere town in Mudug region under Galmudug State in Somalia, the forces liberated Gal’ad town in Galgudud region in the morning, Our forces are in full control of these cities”, The Defense Minister said.

He urged Galmudug State forces and locals to ensure the control of those towns,adding the forces will liberate remaining areas still Al-Shabaab militants.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has commended Somali National Armed forces and the locals for capturing the strategic town of  Harardhere, that had fallen in the hands of the army, on Monday. The PM in a tweet praised the the bravery and the sacrifices of the SNA and locals,
