Somalia: Puntland police protest against unpaid salaries, halt traffic between Garowe and Bosaso
Witnesses said they have seen armed soldiers with armored military vehicles haltingtraffic on the road between Garowe and Bosaso.
"We have not received salaries for the last two months.” A protesting soldier identified as Awil Hussein said accusing Puntland President Deni of diverting the salaries of Puntland forces for his election campaign.
Puntland authorities is set to hold statewide direct local elections on May 24,which if becomes unsuccessful could the region into political turmoil, despite Deni’s election campaign seeking support.
Somalia’s prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre speaking in an event in Mogadishu on Monday evening accused Puntland leaders for undermining development projects such as the employment of 400 teachers in Puntland, and the debt relief processes.

Garowe (Horn Observer) Police in Somalia's Puntland region on Tuesday protested against unpaid salaries, amid Somalia's prime minister accused the region's head for undermining the development project of the region.
