MOGADISHU, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) - A few days after the attack on Somali army bases in Ceeldheer in the Galgaduud region, missing Somali soldiers have been seen in an Al-Shabaab propaganda video.
These soldiers were reported missing following the militants' raid on Ceeldheer bases on Saturday, June 8.
The Ministry of Defense has yet to comment on the situation. However, family members have expressed their distress, noting that they have not received any news since the day of the attack. The exact number of missing soldiers remains unknown.
In the propaganda video released by Al-Shabaab, several captured soldiers are shown. The video depicts at least two soldiers and a third who appears injured, though his current condition is unclear.
Al-Shabaab did not specify how many soldiers they captured during the raid.
Al-Shabaab frequently uses such propaganda videos, portraying captured soldiers as part of their recruitment strategy.
In Mogadishu, a military commander who was killed in the Ceeldheer attack was buried this week. The funeral was attended by family members and government representatives.
