The $SOMAL has launched on the Seychelles based MEXC decentralized exchange. Operating on the Solana blockchain, SOMAL is transparent by design, fully decentralized and immutable, and supported by the Leader of Accountability and Transparency Caucus of the House of People of Somalia, Dr. Abdillahi Hashi Abib.

While the $SOMAL was originally designed in 2025 as an alternative digital currency however the massive fraud and corruption scandal that is enveloping Somalians abroad and US and Somali politicians requires a digital revolution.

The Solana Blockchain offers Somalia accountability and transparency. The $SOMAL is designed as an answer to both domestic and international transactions and will be a moving force in in the tokenization of Somalia’s extensive in ground oil, gold, and uranium real world assets (RWAs).

$SOMAL will also help fuel MP Dr. Abib’s anticorruption agenda including the rehabilitation of the national currency, the Shilling, and his efforts to clean up the government financial sector. According to Dr. Abib, "The $SOMAL is a way forward to help the people of Somalia and its economy. To get ahead, Somalia must forego the old ways of conducting business and embrace new technologies.” Dr. Abib has long been one of the few Somali voices calling out the corruption which plagues the nation and the resulting underinvestment in Somalia’s vast resources.
