MOGADISHU, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) - Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo Tuesday morning left the country for Kampala, where he will attend the sixth inauguration ceremony of Ugandan President Yuweri Kagut Museveni.

The plane carrying the President and his entourage departed Adan Adde international airport shortly after 9am.

Museveni is scheduled to be sworn in as Uganda's head of state for a sixth five-year term on Wednesday.

According to the Ugandan president, other eleven heads of state will personally attend and about ten will send high-performance delegations.

The president seized power in 1986, after a five-year guerrilla struggle. At the time, he was enthusiastically welcomed by a population weary of bloodshed, successive despots and ineffectual military juntas.

Museveni, who has been president for 35 years, was declared the winner with 58 percent of last January elections which marked by controversy and a violent election season that claimed more than 55 lives and left hundreds behind bars.
