MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) – Shocking revelations have emerged regarding a daring attack carried out by Al-Shabaab last month, during which the terrorist group managed to free multiple detainees held at the Kaxda police station in the western part of the capital city, Somali security sources have revealed.

Reports from NISA operatives operating in the Kaxda district of Mogadishu indicate that during the night raid late last month, Al-Shabaab militants orchestrated a successful operation to liberate "their members” detainees held at the Kaxda police station.

Although the identities of these detainees remain undisclosed, they are believed to include prominent members of the terrorist organization.

The attack, which occurred on August 22, was specifically focused on securing the release of Al-Shabaab members incarcerated in the Kaxda police station.

"from the nature of the attack, it appears that the militants were determined to free their comrades at any cost,” said one NISA officer who requested anonymity due to security concerns.

When approached for comment on the matter, Police spokesman Sadiq Doodishe directed inquiries to the Kaxda police station commander.

The station commander, however, stated that investigations were still ongoing to determine the exact number of detainees who escaped during the attack.

As of today, the government has not officially addressed or acknowledged the incident.

In the wake of the attack, Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility and hailed the raid on the police station as a "successful” operation, further underscoring the persistent security challenges faced in the region.
