MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) – On Saturday, Hassan Ali Gagal, a highly regarded senior official in the Dharkenley district, fell victim to a daylight assassination in Mogadishu, as reported by witnesses and officials.

Gagal, who served as the head of taxation and held a long-standing position in the district, was also the assistant to district commissioner Yusuf Hundubey.

The assailants, three gunmen, ambushed Gagal while he was en route to his workplace at the Ex-control junction in Dharkenley district.

Following the attack, security forces swiftly reached the scene, removing Gagal’s lifeless body and launching an extensive operation.

However, no immediate results from this operation have been made public. Notably, both the district administration and security officials have maintained silence, refraining from issuing any statements regarding the assassination or the ongoing operations.

The assassination of Gagal, a prominent and respected figure in Dharkenley, represents a significant deterioration of Security in Mogadishu.

Taking responsibility for the attack on Gagal, the Al-Shabaab militant group has once again emerged as a potent threat.

Known for their history of violence and insurgency in the region, Al-Shabaab’s involvement raises concerns about the potential resurgence of organized attacks in Mogadishu.
