    MOGADISHU, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) — Early this morning, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a security checkpoint on the Afgoye-Mogadishu road, near KM13, where soldiers were reportedly collecting money from vehicles.

Suicide Bomber Targets Security Checkpoint Near Mogadishu, Multiple Casualties Reported.
MOGADISHU, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) — Early this morning, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a security checkpoint on the Afgoye-Mogadishu road, near KM13, where soldiers were reportedly collecting money from vehicles.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion claimed the lives of at least eight people, including six soldiers from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) stationed at the checkpoint.

At least two civilians were killed in the blast.

Just an hour later, another attempt at violence occurred when a Toyota Land Cruiser loaded with explosives detonated near the same area, along the road between Mogadishu and Afgoye.


Security sources reported that they foiled the attack, preventing further casualties.
