
Somalia Advances Digital Transformation with Unified Government Services Initiative, officials say
Starting next year, Somali citizens will be able to access essential documents—including birth and marriage certificates—through a single, unified digital system, simplifying access while boosting government efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
"This milestone demonstrates the Federal Government’s sustained efforts and institutional progress,” said H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama as quoted by Somali National News Agency (SONNA)
Director General of National Telecommunication Authority Mustafa Yasin Sheikh speaking at the DPI 2026 Conference in Mogadishu highlighted the role of telecommunications and cyber security in building a secure, reliable, and inclusive digital ecosystem.
Analyst say Somalia’s advances in digital governance offer a model for other developing countries seeking to leverage technology for efficient public services and economic growth
