Mogadishu, Somalia (Horn Observer) The Banadir Regional Administration, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia, held a tree planting event at Hamar Municipal Hall in Mogadishu to mark the conclusion of National Tree Planting Week, officials said.

That tree planting activities took place across all districts in the Banadir region throughout the week, with the aim at strengthening environmental restoration.

The officials confirmed that a large-scale initiative to green Mogadishu is now officially underway as part of a wider environmental protection strategy.

A ministry representative praised the regional administration’s contribution, emphasizing that such collaboration reflects the government’s commitment to environmental conservation and tree development.

The event is part of the "Green Somalia” initiative, which seeks to expand vegetation cover and mitigate the effects of climate change.
