    Eritrea to build new embassy in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa

    Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Eritrean president Isaias Afwerki together with Ethiopian prime minister Dr Abiy Ahmed have laid foundation stone for a new Eritrean embassy building in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Ethiopian media reported.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Eritrean president Isaias Afwerki together with Ethiopian prime minister Dr Abiy Ahmed have laid foundation stone for a new Eritrean embassy building in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Ethiopian media reported.


The Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed said that the land where the Embassy will rest is a gift for the people and Government of Eritrea, noting that the construction of the embassy will further cement the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

"During the visit, we had discussion on potential areas of economic integration and how to exploit them” Dr. Abiy Ahmed said as reported by FANABC.

President Isaias reiterated Eritrea’s resolute decision to work with requisite vigour to recoup lost opportunities by three generations to bolster new chapter of cooperation between the two countries.

Ethiopia and Eritrea signed peace deal following the appointment of Dr Abiy Ahmed as Prime Minister of Ethiopia in April 2018, where the Eritrean Embassy was re-opened after 20 years of conflict.

President Isaias Afwerki has been on official visit to Ethiopia where he was warmly welcomed by Dr. Abiy Ahmed and paid visit several locations including the Oromo region, he Industrial Park there as well as agricultural and industrial projects in Bishoftu and Dukem.
