Djibouti government slams DP World dispute court case in London

Djibouti - Dibouti government slammed the decision by the dispute court in London filled by the UAE's DP world over their port, saying they have nothing to do with that court case or is not in agreement with DP World.

Djibouti - Dibouti government slammed the decision by the dispute court in London filled by the UAE's DP world over their port, saying they have nothing to do with that court case or is not in agreement with DP World.

Abubakar Omar Haddii, the director of Djibouti Port who held a press conference in Djibouti said that his government was not in an agreement with DP World, but rather was part of part of the port investment.

"Djibouti was not in agreement with DP World, but was in agreement with Doraleh Container Terminal DCT, which DP world is a minority share holder” Abubakar Omar Haddi, the director of Djibouti Port said, "33% of DCT is owned by DP World and 76% is owned by Djibouti government”

He further said that DP World and Djibouti can go to a dispute court, but has no right to go to court with the use of the shared company DCT which Djibouti government is majority shareholder.

However, Djibouti government acknowledged that they have agreement with Dooraale container terminal which they have ceased their contract over what they termed, "manipulation and control of their assets.”

"We have refuted the term which says that Djibouti can not establish big ports for 50 years, an article they have rejected to change and have led to the cancellation of the contract.” Mr. Haddi said.

DP World filed the Djibouti dispute port case to the International Arbitration Tribunal in London which repeated called for the DJibouti to reinstate DP World.
