    Newly appointed US envoy reaches Mogadishu

    MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Newly appointed US ambassador to Somalia Larry André has today arrived in Somali capital, Mogadishu.

MOGADISHU (HORN OBSERVER) - Newly appointed US ambassador to Somalia Larry André has today arrived in Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The plane carrying the ambassador and US embassy delegates mid-morning at Adan Adde International Airport where they received by officials from Somali ministry of foreign affairs.

André who has replaced Donald Yamamoto who was appointed by President Donald Trump will soon assume the office.

The US embassy in Somalia announced the arrival of the new diplomat noting.

"We are pleased to announce the arrival of Ambassador Larry André. He is eager to work in partnership with the Somali people and their state and federal governments to advance our shared objective of Somalia’s revival as a secure, prosperous, and democratic nation,” a tweet from the embassy said.


André had been serving as US ambassador to Djibout before he was moved to Somalia. He also served as US ambassador to Mauritania.
