GAROWE, Somalia (HORN OBSERVER) – The Puntland State of Somalia has firmly denied any plans to accept Palestinians relocated from Gaza, following recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting such a move.

In an official statement, Puntland authorities reaffirmed their support for Palestinians’ right to live peacefully in their homeland.

Speaking on Sunday, Puntland’s Minister of Information, Mohamud Aidid Dirir, clarified the government’s position:

"The Puntland government respects the rights of Palestinians to live in peace and prosperity in their country."

His remarks came in response to a statement by Puntland’s Deputy Minister of Information, Yaquub Abdalle, who, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, suggested that Puntland would welcome Palestinians if they were relocated there.

However, Minister Dirir dismissed those comments as a personal opinion, stressing that they do not reflect the official stance of the Puntland government.

Puntland reiterated that it would not take part in any plans to resettle Palestinian refugees.

Reports of Puntland allegedly agreeing to a U.S.-led relocation plan have circulated widely in international media, particularly in Western and Israeli outlets.
